Famous Labels, the center anchor space at Gateway Fashion Mall, appears to have closed. I haven’t been able to 100% confirm the details, but I did receive a tip that the anchor store was closed over the weekend and there is no answer when I attempt to call their listed phone number.
If Famous Labels has indeed closed its doors this is just the latest blow to the ill-fated Gateway Mall, which has seen consistently high vacancies for years. The center anchor space, where Famous Labels was located, has been a revolving door to tenants since Herberger’s left the space in 1994. Conlin’s Furniture, which was located in the space from 2004-2009, had been the longest lasting tenant in the space since Herberger’s departure.
I’m sad to say that my March 2010 prediction that Famous Labels’ presence would be short was true.
