The Bismarck City Commission has extended an offer to Christopher Elg to fill the open police chief position, left vacant by the retirement of Keith Witt earlier this year. Elg is current the police chief for West Monroe, LA and brings 28 years of experience, including 17 years as a police chief. Long-time Bismarck police officer, Dan Donlin, was selected as an alternative should the offer with Elg fall through.
Fred Wooten has been serving as interim Chief since the retirement of Witt, but Wooten is also expected to soon retire.
UPDATE (12/20/2012): According to KX News, Christopher Elg has declined the offer. Dan Donlin will, therefore, likely be offered the position instead.
