At a press conference this afternoon, Governor Dalrymple called for a Special Legislative Session to tackle a projected $1+ billion deficit in the state’s budget cycle. The shortfall stems from a slowdown in oil activity in the region.
In the speech, Dalrymple warned that North Dakota is not in a financial crisis: “We are not talking, today, about the overall financial strength of the state.”
The session will commence on August 2 and is expected to last three days, but may last longer.
