MAC Inc, a North Dakota-based manufacturer of industrial heating units, has applied for tax incentives to open a facility at Bobcat’s industrial campus in eastern Bismarck. Founded in Glenburn, ND in 1983, MAC plans to occupy approximately 50,000 square feet of space on the Bobcat campus, just west of Bobcat’s former main facility.
The company’s tax exception proposal consists of a full tax exemption through 2015, with increasing tax amounts each year through 2020. Given the city’s pattern, it is reasonable to assume MAC’s request will be granted.
MAC expects to employ 12 people in the beginning, but could eventually expand its employee base. The line of work, which includes fabricators and welders, should provide at least some relief to laid-off Bobcat workers who have been unable to obtain satisfactory employment.
