The 97,000-square-foot expansion of the North Dakota Heritage Center officially opened to the public today, the 125th anniversary of North Dakota’s statehood. The enlarged Center features additional exhibit and gallery spaces along with outdoor space, a new theater, and the James River Café.
Some work is yet to be done before the improved Heritage Center is fully complete, including The Treehouse… a children’s exhibit area planned for 2015.
The expansion cost roughly $52 million, with $39.9 million appropriated by the state legislature in 2009.
