Universal Motor Company became established in 1934. Upon formation, Universal Motor Company was a Ford-Lincoln dealership housed on the same site as Fleck Motors. John Fleck was the company’s president, which later became a conflict of interest considering Fleck Motors was a General Motors dealership.
Today’s Eide Ford is essentially the successor to Universal Motor Company, although it’s not quite as straight-forward as that. Universal Motor Company evolved into McCarney Ford in 1957 and Holmes Ford in 1977 before closing one year later. McCarney re-opened as a service center in the same building in 1980, only to be acquired by today’s Eide Ford the following year.
