The Bismarck City Commission has approved a joint venture with the DOT to install new traffic signals at 15 intersections along Bismarck Expressway, between 3rd Street and Commerce Drive, and University Drive, between Expressway and Airport Road.
The new traffic signals will feature the familiar protected left turn arrow, but will also include a new blinking yellow left arrow. The blinking yellow arrow will function similarly to the “Left Turn Yield on Green” lights, where drivers will be permitted to make left turns when it’s safe to do so, but must yield the right away to oncoming traffic.
The traffic light upgrades will cost the city an estimated $25,000.
