Residents in Mandan went to the polls yesterday to vote on a proposed new $22 million sports complex, voting 56% in favor of the project (official results are still being tallied).
Paying for the project will raise the city’s sales tax by three-fourth percent. The complex will feature a two-rink hockey arena, gymnastics facilities, and a new football and track field. The existing Faris football and track field will be converted into ball fields.
Two possible locations are targeted for the complex: west of the former Mandan Hospital -or- in front of the Tesoro refinery.
