The Mercy Box “movement” started out as a movement to help
fight poverty in North Dakota. From this movement, individuals caught the
vision for how common people can have an uncommon impact. There is a
different recipient organization selected each month and hundreds of
people impacted.
In April, The Mercy Box Campaign organizational recipient will be Ruth
Meiers. Ruth Meiers began in 1987, providing shelter services to seven
homeless men in Bismarck. Now, Ruth Meiers provides over 200 shelter
beds and 110 affordable housing units, alongside multiple essential
services to meet the growing needs across the region.
Ruth Meiers provides numerous essential services to the homeless at
multiple facilities in the Bismarck-Mandan area. The programs and services
they offer create a transitional pathway from homelessness to community
reintegration, providing services across the continuum to help their clients
overcome barriers and access the resources available to them.
The items to be donated are 39 gallon and large kitchen garbage bags,
toilet paper, paper towels and canned fruits and vegetables. You can get
involved by making a donation at one of the participating Mercy Box drop
off locations in the Bismarck area listed at www.themercybox.com.
If you would like your business to be a drop off location or if your
organization would like to be a monthly recipient of The Mercy Box
movement please contact Sargianna Wutzke at 701-319-0413 or
Sargianna@surprisechurch.com for more information.
