North Dakota’s new Superintendent of Public Instruction, Kirsten Baesler, has withdrawn the state’s previous request to be exempt from the “No Child Left Behind” law. The exemption would have allowed North Dakota to implement its own program to meet certain educational requirements in exchange for No Child Left Behind.
The exemption was originally requested last year while Wayne Sanstead held the office of Superintendent. Sanstead retired last year after 28 years. He was the nation’s longest-serving state school administrator.
