Men’s Wearhouse, a national retail chain specializing in men’s dress appearel, will soon be opening at Pinehurst Square in Bismarck. Modifications for the store are almost complete and it is expected to open on August 5. It will be the second Men’s Wearhouse location in North Dakota, after Fargo.
Houston-based Men’s Wearhouse was founded in 1973 by George Zimmer, who is commonly seen in their commercials, which often end with him stating their catch phrase, “You’re going to like the way you look; I guarantee it.” As of June 2010, the chain had 1,248 locations, including one in Fargo.
In 2010, Men’s Wearhouse placed #68 in Fortune Magazine’s “100 Best Companies To Work For”.
Despite having recently closed approximated 145 locations earlier this year, the company is actually one of the few retail companies to remain profitable during the recession, beating its earning forecasts each of the past 4 quarters.
Locally owned men’s appearal stores, namely Hansen’s and Hellman Brothers, will probably feel a slight pinch from the added competition, but will likely not be largely impacted from the opening of Men’s Wearhouse, whose primary business model relies on lower price points to target the “average” man.
Pinehurst Square, where David’s Bridal also maintains a location, will prove a perfect fit for for Men’s Wearhouse.
