Bearscat Bakehouse, formerly The Donut Hole, is planning a Mandan location and has applied for a $150,000 grant from Chase Mission Main Street Grants to aid in its plans, the Bismarck Tribune reports.
15 grants will be awarded, based partially on the number of votes received. Bearscat needs at least 250 votes by October 17, which can be cast here.
Bearscat’s owner is planning a Main Street location, presumably aiming to fill a void left from long-time local bakery George’s Bakery, which closed in 2006 after 59 years (44 years as George’s). Bearscat has also recently expanded to include a concession stand at BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center.
Bearscate Bakehouse was born in 2012 when local resident Kevin Cavanagh purchased the existing The Donut Hole, which was established by Dickinson-based Bakery Boy in 1980.
