Assault Injures Five, Including Three Juveniles; Suspect Sought

An incident at 1119 University Drive in south Bismarck at about 10:26am this morning has resulted in a controlled access scenario at Sanford Hospital limiting entry into the facility, KX News reports.

Skyway Park Village trailer park is located at the given address, located directly across from Wachter Middle School.

Details on the incident are few and far between at present. Bismarck Police are investigating.


UPDATE (2:52pm): 

Bismarck Police are confirming that five victims, two adults and three juveniles, were assaulted inside a mobile home at 1119 University Drive at 10:26am this morning. All victims were taken to Sanford Health for treatment. Two victims remain in ICU, one with a head injury.

Preliminary information suggests that at least one was injured by a baseball bat.

The suspect, an ex-boyfriend of one of the victims, remains at large. He reportedly made threatening remarks about returning to the scene.


UPDATE (3:51pm):

Bismarck Police have identified the suspect in this morning’s assault as 57-year-old Richard Lee Gourneau Sr (pictured). Gourneau is described as Native American, 5’8″ tall, 170 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.

UPDATE (11/28 – 10:48am): 

Bismarck Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a stolen vehicle taken from the home of the assault. The vehicle is described in a press release as a “2005 silver Honda Accord two door, with ND license JMC 190.”

The suspect, 57-year-old Richard Lee Gourneau Sr, has not been located and it is not fully known if he took this vehicle, which was being used by one of the victims.

KX News is also providing additional details on the victims, with victims ranging in age from 14 years old to 53 years of age. Two victims remain in the ICU with extensive head injuries believed to have been caused by a baseball bat.
