Man Wanted For Allegedly Assaulting Five Arrested

Richard Lee Gourneau Sr, the man wanted for allegedly assaulting five in south Bismarck last week, has been caught and booked.

According to a press release, at 3:15am this morning, Gourneau texted one of the victims stating that the stolen vehicle, 2005 Honda Accord that authorities were searching for, was parked at Denny’s. Bismarck Police located the stolen vehicle at the restaurant and began searching the area.

A police office successfully made contact with Gourneau by calling the number he texted from. Gourneau agreed to meet officers by the car and turn himself in. Gourneau was arrested without incident when seen walking westbound near the 9th Street and Bowen Avenue intersection, just north of Denny’s.

Gourneau was taken to Burleigh County Detention Center.


UPDATE (4:45pm): 

In court this afternoon, bond was set at $250,000 for Gourneau and he was ordered no contact with any of the victims. He is facing five counts of aggravated assault and one count each of terrorizing, simple assault, and theft of property.
