Bismarck Police have confirmed an officer-involved shooting late last night that led to the death of the 42-year-old suspect.
Shortly after 11pm, police were responding to a call of an intoxicated man threatening the caller with a shotgun. The incident happened near the intersection of 32nd Street and Rosser Avenue.
Police located the suspect in the hallway of an apartment building located on the 3200 block of East Thayer, standing near a long gun. The suspect then fled the building towards Rosser. When the suspect, perceived to be armed, refused to comply with orders, the officer fired. First aid was administered to the suspect, who was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Per standard procedure, the officer, who has been with the department for eight years, has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
This is the third officer-involved shooting for the department this year.
