Long-time local business Hoskins-Meyer Floral closed suddenly in November 2008, not officially announcing its closure until several months later. The retailer had been in business for over 100 years. Hoskins-Meyer originated as a dry goods, stationery, and tobacco store; however, it was a floral store for most of it existence. It’s former greenhouse, pictured here, was demolished in April 2010.
Co-owner Philip Meyer founded KFYR in 1925 – Bismarck’s first radio station, which also began television broadcasts in 1953. Today, the original building that first housed the retail store continues to house KFYR-TV.
