The 32,173-square foot building originally opened as Bill’s Supervalu in
1989. It was purchased by Steve and Linda Barlow in 1997, along with Econofoods
in nearby Bismarck the following year. In 2003, the Barlows changed the name of
both stores to Miracle Mart to be consistent with their stores in Minot, ND. It
was soon after purchased by Grand Central of Fergus Falls, MN, who again renamed
the store – to Central Market.
The grocery store’s primary distributor has been Nash Finch since the
Barlow’s purchase.
In 2013, shortly after the opening a Walmart Supercenter, the
Mandan Central Market store shuttered and the Bismarck store was sold to Dan’s
Supermarket – who already maintains a Mandan location.
