Shades was a nightclub located at Kirkwood Mall. It opened in 1986, replacing W.W. Noodles, which shuttered two years earlier.
The nightclub closed in 1994 when its owner, Fargo’s Randy Thorson, opened Bismarck’s Borrowed Bucks Roadhouse… the third Roadhouse (after Fargo and Sioux Falls).
Scheels expanded into the former Shades space in 1995.
