George’s Bakery was a long-time business located on Main Street in Mandan, best known for their donuts and cakes. It originated as a Sweetheart Bakery, but was purchased by George Marback in 1962 – who had been working at the bakery since 1947. He and his wife maintained ownership of the well-known bakery until retiring in 2006. George’s Bakery was often voted the best bakery in the region.
George’s Bakery was the recipient of the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce Granite Award in 2004, given to local businesses that have operated more than 50 years and shown strong commitment to the community.
