Hoge Island is a housing development and site of a public park with boat ramp located in northwest Bismarck. It is named for Ray Hogue (also spelled Hoge), who bought the island in 1950. At the time, it was nine miles outside of city limits. It was used for farming for many years. Today, a public park and housing development exist there. In 2011, a home there became the symbol of that year’s flood when media depicted it collapsing into floodwaters.
