Jerry’s Supper Club was a prestigious bar and restaurant located at 3934 Memorial Highway on The Strip.
Lee Coman originated the establishment as Coman’s Court in 1932, operating from two railroad cars. Coman sold it to Michael Guon later that decade, who converted it into Midway Club. Gerald Boren acquired it in 1946 and renamed it Jerry’s in 1950. He sold controlling interest in 1962, but retained partial ownership until 1977. It reportedly served such high-profile patrons as Jack Dempsey, Roy Rogers, and Gene Autry.
In the early morning of February 6, 1978, fire destroyed Jerry’s Supper Club. Estimated loss was about $300,000. Police discovered the fire at about 1:13 a.m. Both of the club’s front and rear doors were left open, and officers spotted flames through those. Arson was suspected, but never proven. Equipment and supplies housed inside contributed to several explosions. Apparently, pressure blew a soft drink canister about fifty feet into the air.
