Richholt was an early elementary school that was completed in 1920. Additions followed in 1950 and 1953.
It was later replaced by a new Richholt Elementary, which itself controversially closed in 2003 and now houses the Bismarck Early Childhood Education Program (BECEP).
Richholt was named for F.H. Richholt, who retired from the school board in 1917.
