Sergio’s Mexican Restaurant was a Mexican-style restaurant that operated at 401 E Bismarck Expressway from 1987-2004.
The first Sergio’s opened in 1980 in Jamestown. Dickinson followed the next year and Minot two years later. In 1999, it re-branded as Sergio’s “Fresh Market Grill” and expanded its menu to include burgers and pasta.
Sergio’s was owned by local restaurateur Reza Kamranian and partner Randy Thorson. Thorson bought out Kamranian in 2000.
As of 2017, Sergio’s-branded salsa can still be found in some grocery stores.
The building originally was home to La Casa de Hamburguesa, which operated from 1980-1984. Following that, it housed Nick’s Ristorante until 1985. Today, it’s home to Famous Dave’s.
