The Bismarck City Commission has rejected two proposals for development of the former Captain Meriwether’s Landing restaurant site, located along the banks of the Missouri River. One proposal called for a bait and tackle shop while the other came from the Fort Lincoln Foundation for a museum and ticket counter for the Foundation’s Riverboat.
One reason that the Foundation’s proposal was rejected was because it was asking that the City construct the building.
The property was home to Captain Meriwether’s Landing until its closure in September 2009. The former restaurant was destroyed by the 2011 floods and demolished in June 2012.
