Around 4:45 PM, December 1, the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of smoke and fire at an apartment building at 121 West Interstate Ave. While responding firemen received a report that the fire was in an oven and that the fire was out. On arrival the first responding officer gave an initial report of nothing showing and went in to investigate. Investigation discovered no fire but damage from a cooking fire on the stovetop. The fire department Chaplain was called to the scene to assist with a family who was displaced, the Red Cross was also involved. Fire crews ventilated smoke out of the structure. Damage was limited to one apartment. Eighteen firefighters responded to the fire. No one was injured.
Approximate estimate of fire and smoke damage is $5,000.
